Internship Guidelines Made Familiar
PROCEDURE OF REGISTRATION AS A VETERINARY MEDICINE OR ANIMAL HEALTH INTERN (2024)
STEP ONE: REGISTRATION WITH THE KENYA VETERINARY BOARD
1. Download Application Form For Registration of Interns (Form 40) and fill it.
Ignore sections requiring you to fill host organization and name of supervising veterinary surgeon

2. Download and fill the relevant Oath: for Veterinary Surgeons Oath (for veterinary medicine graduates) OR for Veterinary Paraprofessionals Oath (for animal health graduates).

3. Scan the filled documents as well as a copy of your academic certificate and national I.D. Save the scanned documents as ONE combined PDF document.
4) Complete the application process by filling personal details on the online Google application form using the following link:

5) After verification of your documents, you will receive an SMS notification/text indicating the success of your application and informing you to pay the registration fee.
6) Make payment on the E-Citizen platform. The payment options for internship are listed as follows:
a) Registration of graduates for Internship (Veterinary Medicine)
b) Registration of graduates for Internship (Degree in Animal Health)
c) Registration of graduates for Internship (Diploma in Animal Health)
d) Registration of graduates for Internship (Certificate in Animal Health)
7) After payment, attach the E-Citizen payment receipt and send it to our email: registration@kenyavetboard.or.ke
8) An intern registration certificate with an internship registration number shall be generated and an SMS notification/text informing you to collect the certificate.
9) Collect certificate of registration as an intern from the KVB offices.
NOTE: Intern Registration Fees:
a) Veterinary Medicine graduates Kshs 1050,
b) Animal Health and Production graduates (Degree, Diploma and Certificate) Kshs 550

STEP TWO: REGISTRATION WITH THE DIRECTORATE OF VETERINARY SERVICES
After getting the certificate of registration as an intern from KVB, apply to the Director of Veterinary Services (DVS) by filling personal details in an online Google form using the following link: DVS Online Application Form
The date for placement of successful applicants will be communicated through their email addresses in due course..

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON INTERNSHIP
Question: If one is already working, do you go for internship?
Answer: If you graduated from the year 2016 to date and have never gone for internship, you must apply to be registered as an intern and undertake a one-year internship program. This applies even if you are working.
Question: Must one have the original KCSE Certificate?
Answer: Yes. Also note that the KCSE result slip is not allowed.
Question: Can one register with ID Waiting Card?
Answer: No. The Board must view the original National ID Card. No waiting cards or birth certificates shall be accepted during application for registration.
Question: Can one be placed in an organization of your choice?
Answer: The Directorate of Veterinary Services (DVS) is responsible for placement. Any questions regarding placement should be directed there.
Question: I Applied for indexing and never got a feedback from KVB
Answer: write an email to registration@kenyavetboard.or.ke Be sure to include your full names, ID number, course and school/college. You shall receive a response within 7 days.
